Shakshak Zhanibek Koshkaruly – batyr, commander, statesman. He was awarded the high military rank of tarkhan – Field Marshal.
The famous native of the Argyn tribe – Shakshak Zhanibek Tarkhan Koshkaruly – batyr of the Momyn clan of the Argyn tribe, was born in 1693, died in 1752.
Zhanibek’s military service began at the age of 17, when he defeated the Dzungarian batyr and began to wear his armor. Shakshak Zhanibek had a very good generalship talent. It was he who put forward the idea of contrasting the heavily armed Dzungarian cavalry with maneuverable detachments of archers who penetrated into the enemy’s rear and ambushed there. They also served as the eyes and ears of the Kazakh militia! Zhanibek was the first to create small flying detachments, numbering no more than a hundred, which proved themselves well in the Bulanta-Bileudin campaign, cutting out small detachments of Dzungars in the remote Turgai steppes and capturing prisoners for the extraction of intelligence information. Zhanibek and his maneuvering groups ambushed the Jungar retreat routes during which they were able to completely demoralize them, which brought victory. Shakshak Zhanibek, in addition to his generalship talents, possessed political flair and diplomatic abilities.
In the future, Zhanibek was engaged in the arrangement of the Turgai region, which had recently been completely cleared of Kalmyks. The entire territory was divided between the Kazakh clans, and once the bare steppe began to fill with life. Shakshak Zhanibek died in 1752 and was buried in Turkestan near the mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. Zhanibek remained in history as a batyr who knows no fear and defeats
