On January 30 of this year, the staff of the B.Mailin Museum of Local Lore organized a photo and documentary exhibition entitled “In memory of the past”, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the formation of the B.Mailin district and in memory of the director of the state farm “Banner of Soviets” Ivan Ilyich Slesarchuk. The exhibition introduces visitors to photographic and documentary materials about the life and work of Ivan Ilyich, who played an important role in the development of the village of Znamya Sovetov.
Ivan Ilyich Slesarchuk from the village of Barsukovka, Taranovsky district, really wanted to become a construction scientist. Then the army service, the war. Ivan Ilyich walked a lot along the front-line roads. He was at Stalingrad, and with his unit he liberated the cities and villages of Ukraine and European countries. After the war, he got on a combine harvester, and then, as a hardworking mechanic and suitable for leadership work, he was promoted to various positions.
In 1960, the collective farmers of the agricultural artel named after Karl Marx was elected chairman of the collective farm, pinning great hopes on a relatively young and energetic leader. But their wishes were not destined to come true. A year later, the district administration appointed him director of the village of Znamya Sovetov. And he has been in this position continuously for 20 years. He headed the state farm “Banner of Soviets” for 20 years. Thanks to his talent as a diplomat and organizer, the collective farm staff has always clearly coped with government assignments for the delivery of agricultural products.
Ivan Ilyich paid special attention to his workers, their way of life, and culture. One of the first buildings in the Znamya Sovetov state farm was a house for the elderly and disabled, a cultural center, a school, and a bookstore. Landscaping of the settlements was carried out.
For his glorious career as director of the state farm “Banner of the Soviets,” Ivan Ilyich Slesarchuk was awarded high government awards: the Order of Lenin, two Orders of the Red Banner of Labor, the Order of the Badge of Honor, as well as two Orders of the Red Star, and the Order of the Patriotic War. Ivan Ilyich was awarded the title of “Honored Worker of Agriculture of the Kazakh SSR.”
