On October 2 of this year, the B. Mailin Museum of History and Local Lore organized an object exhibition dedicated to the International Day of Older Persons, hosted at the Y. Umurzakov District House of Culture.
The exhibition “Creation of Kind Hands” was dedicated to the memory of Matrena Tikhonovna Shkuratova — an extraordinary woman whose skilled hands brought warmth, beauty, and comfort into the world.
Matrena Tikhonovna was born on November 28, 1928, in the village of Zhuravlevka, Taranovsky District. From an early age, she engaged in needlework: embroidering, crocheting, and making tablecloths, napkins, and various household items.
The war years held a special place in her life. Together with other women from the village, she knitted warm socks and mittens for soldiers, striving to contribute to the war effort. After the war, Matrena Tikhonovna continued to craft items for her family and loved ones, pouring her warmth, care, and love into every piece.
Today, her handiwork has become part of museum history. These seemingly simple items tell us about an entire era, about the lives of our mothers and grandmothers, their diligence, patience, and ability to create beauty with their own hands.
“Creation of Kind Hands” is more than just an exhibition of objects. It is a tribute to a person whose kind hands left a lasting mark on the history of her family and her native land.
May Matrena Tikhonovna Shkuratova rest in peace.
May the items she created continue to preserve the warmth of her hands and remind future generations of kindness, care, and honest human labor.
