On July 3 of this year, the B. Mailin Museum of History and Local Lore organized an exhibition of dombras from the museum’s fund collection titled “The String of the Kazakh Soul.”

The exhibition features traditional Kazakh musical instruments, as well as photographic materials documenting the activities of the district’s creative ensembles, folk music performers, and participants in various cultural events. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover the richness of Kazakh musical art and see how these national instruments continue to resonate at concerts, festivals, and celebratory events, preserving the connection of times and the continuity of generations.

Kazakh folk musical instruments are an integral part of the spiritual and cultural heritage of the people. Throughout the centuries, they have accompanied individuals in times of joy and sorrow, reflecting the history, traditions, worldview, and distinct identity of the Great Steppe. Through the sounds of the dombra, kobyz, and other instruments, legends, heroic epics, folk wisdom, and the memory of generations were passed down.

Welcome to the exhibition “The String of the Kazakh Soul”! May the resonance of the strings open up the rich world of Kazakh musical culture to every visitor.
