On September 10 of this year, at the Beimbet Mailin Museum of History and Local Lore, employees held a lecture on the topic “Қanysh Sәtbaevtyқәmәr Zholy” for cultural workers.
Cultural workers got acquainted with the life and work path of academician K. I. Satpayev – an outstanding geologist, scientist and major organizer of science, founder of the republican geological service and the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, creator of the Bolshoi Zhezkazgan and the Institute of Geological Sciences, which now bear his name.
Kanysh Satpayev was born on March 31, 1899 in aul No. 4 in the Pavlodar district of the Semipalatinsk region of the Russian Empire (now the aul named after K. I. Satpayev of the Bayanaul district of Pavlodar region) in a biy family. The scientist left behind a rich scientific heritage. Of particular importance are studies of the Zhezkazgan mine, work on metallogenic and forecast maps of Saryarka.
He directly participated in the construction of a metallurgical plant in Karaganda, the development of Kostanay, Altai iron-manganese, phosphorite deposits of Karatau and many other large facilities. Kanysh Satpayev was repeatedly awarded the Order of Lenin, was a laureate of the USSR State and Lenin Prizes.
Today, the name of an outstanding scientist, organizer of science and practice, a charming person and a sensitive mentor, a genuine patriot of his people Kanysh Imantaevich is: the small planet Satpayev, a city in the Karaganda region; it is immortalized in the names of the mineral, flowers, glacier and mountain peak, streets, enterprises and institutions of Kazakhstan, a prize and scholarship named after K.I. Satpayev.
