On January 31, a portrait evening in memory of the People’s Artist of the Kazakh USSR, laureate of the State Prize, master of the stage Yelubai Umurzakov entitled: “Menin tagdirim Theater”, dedicated to the 125th anniversary of his birth, was held in the museum for students of the S. Ergaliev OSH and cultural staff. During the event, those present learned about the life of E. Umurzakov, his acting activities in the field of drama and cinema, about his main roles and state achievements. Еlubai Umurzakov entered the history of Kazakh cinema primarily as a performer of the role of Amangeldy Imanov in the legendary film “Amangeldy”, shot by Leningrad cinematographers in 1938.

Berik Marhabat, an artist of the national theater of the E.Umurzakov House of Culture, Makpal, deputy director of the S.Ergaliev Kalibekova OSH, and 8th grade students showed an excerpt “The Last Battle of Amangeldy” from the play “Amangeldy”. Next, the guests were shown a fragment from the film with the participation of E. Umurzakov himself.

Yelubai Umurzakov starred in more than 20 films, including: “Songs of Abai”, “Dzhambul”, “Daughter of the Steppes”, “Beardless Deceiver” and others. In 1966, for the main role in the film “Land of the Fathers”, the actor was awarded the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR. Yelubai Umurzakov worked at the Kazakh State Academic Drama Theater named after M.Auezov until the end of his bright creative life. In total, he played more than 150 significant roles.
