On March 17 of this year, the staff of the B. Mailin Museum of Local Lore organized a lecture entitled “Fascinating Philately”, dedicated to the history of postage stamps and their role in reflecting the formation of independent Kazakhstan.
During the event, the participants got acquainted with the stages of development of the national philately, starting with the release of the first Kazakh stamp “Altyn Sarbaz” in 1992. It was noted that since that time, the active development of Kazakh philately has begun, and stamps have become an important element of the country’s cultural identity.
Special attention was paid to the thematic diversity of the stamps: series dedicated to historical figures, architecture, nature, sports and space, as well as their artistic features and modern manufacturing technologies.
It was also emphasized that the postage stamp is a kind of “business card” of the state, reflecting its history, values and achievements, and contributes to the preservation of cultural heritage.
The lecture allowed the participants to take a fresh look at philately as a fascinating and informative field of collecting, combining art, history and modernity, as well as an important way to preserve and promote national heritage.
