On February 4 of this year, the staff of the B. Mailin Museum of Local Lore held a portrait evening for students called “Halyk Zhuregindegi Ybyray”, dedicated to the 185th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Kazakh educator, teacher, poet and public figure Ibyr Altynsarin.
During the event, the students got acquainted with the life and work of Ibraj Altynsarin, a man who devoted his life to the development of public education and the opening of schools for boys and girls. In a difficult historical period, he managed to organize a wide network of public schools in the Turgai region, laying the foundations for primary, vocational and women’s education in Kazakhstan.
Special attention was paid to his pedagogical legacy and the publication of the first textbook for Kazakh children, the Kirghiz Anthology, which played an important role in shaping national identity and was repeatedly republished. Ibyrai Altynsarin’s students include representatives of the future Kazakh intelligentsia, who made a significant contribution to the development of culture, science and public thought in the country.
The legacy of the great enlightener, his humanistic ideas and faith in the power of education remain relevant today, remaining a spiritual guide for new generations.
