On January 21 of this year, the staff of the B.Mailin Museum of Local Lore held a museum hour on the theme “Zhambyl Zhabayev – uly dala akyny”, dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the birth of Zhambyl Zhabayev.
The event was dedicated to the life and creative path of the great Kazakh akyn, a master of improvisation and one of the most prominent representatives of folk poetry in Kazakhstan. During the museum hour, the guests got acquainted with the biography of Zhambyl Zhabayev, learned about his formation as an akyn, participation in aitys, the peculiarities of the poetic style and the subject of the works.
Special attention was paid to the versatility of the poet’s work: heroic epics, satirical and lyrical works, as well as songs from the war years, among which was the story of the creation of the famous poem “Leningraders, my children”, which became a symbol of support for residents of the besieged city.
The museum hour contributed to the formation of interest in the literary heritage of Zhambyl Zhabayev, strengthening respect for outstanding figures of Kazakh culture and preserving historical memory.
