The Slavic people have many interesting holidays, one of the most memorable is Maslenitsa. Since the times of paganism, it marks the end of winter and the welcome of spring. Maslenitsa has always been celebrated with songs, dances, and games, but its main character is the golden pancake – the little sun. Both in ancient times and today, Maslenitsa is famous for its tireless hospitality. So the council of veterans became participants in this wonderful ethnographic museum holiday “Maslenitsa is coming, spring is leading by hand,” which, in the museum’s performance, sparkled with new, special colors. Guests of the holiday were told about the history of Maslenitsa, its traditions, games and amusements, and why the Maslenitsa pancake is not just a festive treat, but a symbol of the golden sun. The grandmothers enjoyed playing games, guessing riddles, and also eagerly took part in the “Best Pancake Eater” competition. The organizers of the holiday tried to create a mood of general celebration and fun and bring joy. At the end of the holiday, all those present were treated to hot tea and fragrant pancakes.
