On July 2 of this year, the B. Mailin Museum of History and Local Lore hosted an informative and musical hour titled “The Resonant History of the People” for students from the summer wellness camp of the S. Ergaliyev School. The event was dedicated to the dombra, the national musical instrument of the Kazakh people.
During the event, the children learned about the history and origins of the dombra, its structure, main varieties, and the unique characteristics of performing kuis (traditional compositions). Special attention was paid to National Dombra Day, celebrated annually on the first Sunday of July, as well as the educational value of this instrument in fostering respect for the history, culture, and traditions of one’s nation.
To reinforce their newly acquired knowledge, the children answered thematic quiz questions and completed “True or False” tasks, demonstrating excellent awareness and a keen interest in their national culture.
The event took place in an informative and friendly atmosphere, allowing the students to expand their knowledge of national musical art, dive deeper into the rich cultural heritage of the Kazakh people, and recognize the vital role of the dombra as one of the key symbols of national identity.
