Every third Sunday in December, Kazakhstan celebrates Energy Worker’s Day – a professional holiday of people whose work is associated with an important task – to provide everyone with warmth and light. In honor of the holiday, employees of the local history museum organized a photo-documentary exhibition entitled: “Energy, light and heat.” The tradition of celebrating this day dates back to 1966, when it was established as a professional holiday in memory of the country’s electrification program, known as GOELRO. Today, regional power grids are represented by three organizations. MezhregionEnergoTransit LLP services 35, 110 kilovolt lines and 14 substations in the district, KEC LLP supervises work with the population, presenting bills and receiving payments from subscribers, EPK – forfait LLP, with the largest staff, carries out the transmission and distribution of electrical energy to consumers. Each organization has its own functions and its own background of work, which are assigned to one main task – the uninterrupted supply of high-quality electricity that meets state standards.
