In order to preserve the memory of a man who devoted his entire working life to serving his Homeland and native land, a thematic exhibition entitled “A Man of Labor and Honor” was organized at the B. Mailin Museum of Local Lore on the occasion of the 104th anniversary of the birth of I.I. Dyachkov, telling about the labor merits of a veteran of war and labor, a local historian, a member of Union of Journalists of the USSR and the Kazakh SSR, honorary cultural worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Dyachkov Ivan Ivanovich was born on September 21, 1921 in the village of Orenburgsky, Taranovsky district, Kostanay region. He graduated from primary school here, and received his secondary education in the village of Viktorovka. After completing one-year pedagogical courses, he taught at the Viktorovskaya secondary school. Ivan Ivanovich’s whole life was inextricably linked with Kostanay region. He had to leave his native land only once, to go to the front.

From 1941 to 1944, Ivan Ivanovich fought on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War: he participated in the Battle of Kursk, the crossing of the Dnieper, the liberation of Kiev, the defeat of the Korsun-Shevchenko enemy group and the liberation of Moldavia. After the war, Ivan Ivanovich devoted his life to the cause of education and upbringing of young people. For 20 years he worked in party work, then founded and led the Rudn Vocational School No. 1 for 20 years. Thanks to his initiative, a museum of local lore was created in the city. Historical, local history, cultural and educational work became Ivan Ivanovich’s life’s work. He was a member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR and the Kazakh SSR, honorary director of the Rudn Museum, and an honorary resident of the city.

For his work and public activities, Ivan Ivanovich was awarded orders and medals, insignia, awarded the titles of “Excellent Student of the USSR vocational education system”, “Honorary Cultural Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, and was a personal pensioner.

Ivan Ivanovich Dyachkov passed away on July 15, 2015, leaving behind a rich historical and cultural heritage and a bright memory in the hearts of his countrymen. The exhibition presents materials from the museum’s collection: documents and photographs telling about his life and work, materials about the frontline, newspaper publications and personal articles of Ivan Ivanovich.
