The German marching compass is a device that makes easy the orientation on the place by pointing to the magnetic poles of the Earth and the cardinal directions.

The compass with a brass lid has a plastic limb base, and the mirror is made of brass. Magnetic compass needle «North» has fluorescent illumination. The compass case is equipped with a scale up to 5 cm on both sides. During the movement, the compass was fastened with a leather strap to military equipment or fixed on the dashboard of the transport.

The Jugend marching compass was used in the army, reflectors (mirrors) were not on all models. It is the most common model, actively used in the Wehrmacht, SS and ground units of the Luftwaffe until 1945.
